When you thought that the increase in your gas and electricity bills were the last and final straw that would break the camel's back,let me tell you that it is not so.
On Thursday, Nov 10th, it was published in the Official Gazette the new table of fees for the Brazilian Instituto da Propiedade Industrial (INPI). The charges cover different services covering from registration of a geographical indication to changes in the name of a trade mark for example. The new fees shall come into force from January 2012 and INPI informs that the average increase is of 18.5%.
Well, no every thing is bad news...INPI also informs that Mr Avila, INPI’s president, will shortly deliver a resolution with discounts up to 60% for: individuals, micro, individual micro entrepreneurs, small businesses and cooperatives as defined by law; teaching and research institutions, non-profits as well as by public bodies, when thee service refers to their invention and/or products.
